삼성은 Die Welt, Bild and Fakt를 소유한 유럽의 뉴스 출판사인 악셀 스프링거(Axel Springer)와 파트너십을 맺고 UPDAY라고 불리는 뉴스 플랫폼을 개발한다고 발표했다. 삼성 갤럭시 디바이스 독점이 될 것이고 베타 버전이 구글 플레이 스토어에 이번 목요일 출시될 것이다. 그러나 얼만큼의 콘텐츠가 이 서비스를 위해 독점적으로 제공될지는 분명하지 않다.

Samsung has announced a partnership with Axel Springer, a publisher of European newspapers including Die Welt, Bild and Fakt, to develop a news platform called “UPDAY.” It’ll be exclusive to Samsung Galaxy devices, and a beta version is set to land in the Google Play store this Thursday. What isn’t clear, however, is how much content, if any, Axel Springer will be producing exclusively for the service.

뉴스 콘텐츠를 모아서 제공해주는 플랫폼을 목표로 하며 알고리즘 기반과 사람 기반의 큐레이션을 모두 사용한다고 한다. 악셀 스프링거가 지배적인 독일과 폴라드에 우선 출시되고 이후 유럽 전체 시장으로 확대될 계획이라 한다.
